What “augmented” telehealth actually means

A regular telehealth app call is a conversation: you describe your symptoms, the doctor listens, and that’s the extent of the exam. An augmented teleconsultation is closer to an in-person visit. Inside a Tessan station, connected medical devices let the remote doctor conduct a real physical exam, with everything shared in real time.

Heart and lungs

A digital stethoscope lets the doctor listen to your heart and lungs remotely, the same way they would with an in-person exam.

Ears, throat, and skin

An otoscope lets the doctor look inside your ears and throat, while a dermatoscope allows a close, magnified view of skin concerns.

Vitals

The station also measures blood pressure, blood oxygen level (pulse oximeter), and temperature, giving the doctor a fuller clinical picture than a video call alone.

How a visit works

A visit is designed to take minutes, not weeks, and follows four simple steps.

  1. Walk in, no appointment needed.
  2. Guided intake, a short intake collects your symptoms, with help from Tessan AI, an assistant that prepares a structured summary for the doctor (it does not diagnose).
  3. Video consultation, you’re connected to a licensed doctor by video, who guides you through using the connected devices step by step.
  4. Outcome, you receive advice and, if appropriate, a prescription you can fill on the spot.

Example: a walk-in visit for a sore throat

Here’s an example (illustrative only, not a real patient case): someone stops at a pharmacy to pick up a prescription and notices a Tessan station. They’ve had a sore throat and mild fever for two days and don’t have a same-day appointment with their regular doctor. They walk in, complete a short guided intake describing their symptoms, and are connected by video to a licensed doctor within minutes. The doctor asks them to use the in-station otoscope to look at their throat and the digital thermometer to check their temperature, both shared live on screen. Based on the exam, the doctor provides guidance and, if appropriate, a prescription the person can fill at the pharmacy counter on their way out.
